what's the retirement age in the US? Do people get pushed away beyond certain age?

The full retirement age for Social Security Benefits is 66 if you were born from 1943 to 1954. The full retirement age increases gradually if you were born from 1955 to 1960 (add 2 months for every year) until it reaches 67. For anyone born 1960 or later, full retirement benefits are payable at age 67.
59 1/2 is the age you can withdraw from 401k without penalty.
Are we speaking of chronological retirement age or imposed retirement age? When considering receipt of Social Security benefits, it doesn’t make much sense to work past age 70. Shell, however, often imposes retirement on those older, more expensive employees. Nothing like being shown the door at age 40+ through no fault of your own. But your supervisor will get a nice bonus for proactive cost management.
Traditional retirement age in the American is 65
