Thread regarding Dell EMC (EMC Corp.) layoffs

layoffs coming feb 2023 across the board

senior people leader here...... need to tell some one, makes me sick.... been in meetings over the past few days, because of recent bad financials and more expected bad financials information coming next year, managers are being asked to cut 5% of bottom performers. list are being given today and tomorrow and HR is going to review and give the go ahead for cuts early Feb. 2023. this includes tech support, project managers, sales, escalation management. Every group/team is going to be affected based on what I have heard recently. there is talk of packages but some will get them and others will not get. if you are worried or have had conversations about performance in the last 3 months i would bet you are in that list. I would start looking for a job now to make sure you have something lined up. these cuts are going to be pretty big.

The Dell buyout is the biggest hunk of junk that's ever happened to by beloved EMC They are famous for hiring off shore and they have shown nothing but greed and indignant behavior to long term talent. I got laid off in 2021 - never had 1 bad review. I really hope Dell flushes it's self down the toilet. I know the talent that has been let go - they will be snapped up quickly by an onshore company with integrity that Dell lacks! Long live EMC talent and integrity. Go to Hel l Dell

EMC never impressed me. When I was there, my manager took joy in providing names of people to lay off. He would often sit back in his walled office chair, smile and tell endless stories about how he cut people, surprised and upset them, and walked them out of the building. He loved it when HR told him to use security while walking out to his car after laid off people would actually threaten him. His boss, who worked in NC, was a total piece of cr-p, hiring "permanent/full-time" people, knowing they'd be gone as soon as the next major release was completed. I'm glad I left years ago and don't miss anything about it..

Your anonymous post turned out to be true and very accurate. That you posted this back in Dec 7th is incredible --to know that the wheels were already set in motion for a long time. I don't know about bottom performers, as when I was let go in 2020 I was 138% of my attainment goal. I feel like direct managers have some say in what names they put forward. My friend was at odds with her very difficult manager, but she was at 200% of quota, and the top performer on his team. They let her go.

Severance package is changing. Not 8 weeks, it has been reduced to 4.

the way Dell has been ramping up on outsourcing more & more lately makes me want to warn the customers of what to expect but isn’t a surprise they were getting ready

I was told the calls will happen Feb 10th for the services org. We will get 2 weeks to find a job from that date making Feb 24th the last day to work and get paid.

Sounds like, in ISG, old EMC overlay functions are going to be virtually gone. SPS, DPS, UDS, slimming down to core DCSE lead sales.

Would expect shuffling of positions, but ISG is taking a huge hit.

Expect a call this Wed if we made the list.

A friend in the ISG side let me know they received notice yesterday. This person said they have 2 weeks to find an internal job before they are released. This isn't great, but better than laying off while hiring from the outside.

If you are not happy and can afford to have some time off or about to retire. Take the package. I did did in 2021. No regrets.

I am on the list. I have NEVER had a performance issue and, over the last few years have been recognized with the internal Inspire award. I am long-tenured and slightly beyond retirement age.

I've been told my last day is Feb. 10 and there will be a severance package of 8 weeks plus 1 week/year of service. In addition 75% of my bonus. It's not a bad package.
