old and scared of a layoff from Directv but getting no information from the company

Scrolling through social media from various sites dedicated to dbs and av and seeing the surge in "I just cancelled Directv after x years", I think this first wave of sub losses will settle down in a month. However, come late summer when the footballers get antsy again and remember that YouTube now has ST, expect another larger surge of subscriber defections. Layoffs will surge alongside that trend. For myself, my exit plan is on schedule to get off this Titanic by early summer.
It will happen all year. Buckle up. And honestly, they still kept people that do cr-p work yet somehow stayed employed. It’s absurdity. Cut all these useless trainers already. it’s not like hiring is going to be ramping up this year.
sorry man, but satellite/cable isn't going to last another 5 years. I got let go from warner last year because these companies refuse to accept they aren't the mainstream anymore. everyone should have pivoted their strategy 10 years ago, but unfortunately they didn't, and now it's too late. good luck.
The next round of layoffs will happen as part of business unit reorganizations as the new operating plan is implemented. Unless things get worse than expected there shouldn't be another mass % layoff. This is a business in decline. Performance has been better since AT&T isn't running operations but the subscriber base is still shrinking.
My guess would be before summer.
When the CEO is a known hatchet man expect it quarterly from now until it’s sold or bankrupt.
