Thread regarding HP (Hewlett-Packard) layoffs

Don't take your chances staying at HP!

"ALL companies ARE laying off staff at all levels big time right now. Don't believe it? Check out what's been happening at Oracle, Intel, Teradata, IBM, Twitter, and a whole lot of other companies. And don't forget to include HP in that list. "

This comment from another poster should be seriously considered! Now is a very poor time to look for work if you get laid off. With Print in sunset, and with HP struggling with its financial results, the already-announced 6000 employee layoff can easily balloon to a whole lot more people to get whacked.

Do the right things and start looking for another job outside of HP now. You've been warned. Don't become another WFR victim.

"Why does everyone assume that IT jobs is what everyone will be looking for"

@2tas+1kIjxHcb -- Ok, best of luck. I hear that In-N-Out is hiring.

Why does everyone assume that IT jobs is what everyone will be looking for. I am a software engineer and I will not be looking at an IT job. I also know of plenty of techs that have specialized skills that are far more in demand than IT.

Certainly, don't just up and quit your current job at HP. But you should actively look for new positions while you're employed. With the stiff competition right now for IT jobs, you will need a lot of runway to find something new.

Just don't sit around waiting for an HP WFR to befall you, which we all know are forthcoming.

Like you said, everyone is laying off. Good luck finding anything, especially in tech. You'll have 300 applications for every job posting. Everyone should stay where their at and hope for the best. You csn look but, it will certainly be more work and less pay if yiu find something.
