Thread regarding USAA layoffs

Layoff

ECIO and a few other areas in the company are going through additional budget trimming exercises now. They're digging hard to cut more expenses. The previous expense cut a few months ago which eliminated contractors was not enough. In many areas, there are no more expenses to cut, so they will obviously start to cut into the staff. You should expect reductions in contractors and very likely a layoff in Q1.

It would seem that they started with Mortgage. Not ECIO. 130 notified yesterday. 60 days to find something else. Wonder if we'll see another hiring freeze because of this?

USAA has layers and layers of fat. Most USAA EMG are glorified admin assistants who couldn't get a job anywhere else as no one will want to hire talentless hacks whose only "talent" is playing politics. They should be trimming these useless people who have been in their roles for dozens of years adding no value but prop up overhead. USAA is so extremely dysfunctional that most new people who get hired leave in less than 2 years as they cannot stand the toxic dysfunctionality and constantly be told by these fat layers that you're not good enough.

USAA is a wasteful company. From the completely unnecessary buildings to the ridiculous trinkets and shirtS they give employees. The company is modernizing, as MOST large companies do. Instead of blaming the leaders of other major companies, blame the folks that made it to be this way..the folks from leadership past. It was ridiculous.

The meeting next week will determine MORE cuts. That's what that meeting is about. Teams will get cut to the bones. It is best to leave USAA if you have a new job opportunity to do so.

That San Antonio office is a dead albatross. Any normal thinking company would have worked on how they can get rid of the large mostly empty campus that is so expensive to maintain. USAA can consolidate to a smaller, higher efficiency building. But...that would mean it's a company with leaders who have thinking skills and we know it's NOT! Most practical companies today who are so keen on cost cutting would look at elimination of real estate, starting with their main campus. Instead of gloating about an obsolete workpace, USAA should consider how to really modernize and consolidate. But instead, it is filled with people who pretent they work for the military and need a Pentagon-like building.

Maybe they should cut a building or two and let workers go remote full time maybe?

We keep hearing this. Haven't seen anything yet for Q1. Maybe after the meeting next week? I am secretly hoping for a severance package but I doubt they will be cutting in my department.
