Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Shall I consider XTO?

I am interviewing for an engineering position in XTO. Please share your honest opinion on the work life balance, work culture, project pace, ranking system, and working from home flexibility. I am minority and concerned after reading your comments here. Thank you all.

Xto and the construction group is racist. They did some very unethical practices falsely accusing mexicans of stealing equipment becausethe managers over ran the costs and someine needed to be blamed.

There are many minorities in leadership positions in Midland. You will be fine. Some groups have a majority of leadership that is minority.

If all those knocking Exxon think it’s so bad try working for others, like Honeywell.

The grass is not always greener.

Not saying Exxon is perfect by any means but there are a lot worse.

And now for the downvotes

lol no. Unless that is the only operator that will hire you. In which case, sounds about par for the course for XOM to force feed minority hires with no experience into XTO. #winning #DEI

XOM is very far behind in DEI. XTO is even further behind. If you are a minority, expect very few opportunities for career advancement.

Yes if position is in Houston or anywhere other than Midland. I spent several years there and now work for ExxonMobil side. It was a valuable experience and colleagues were great. Midland work culture is very different from Houston culture though.

My understanding is that XTO is the place where social skills and teamwork go to die. Loud talking and b-ll scratching types please apply

HOW MANY TIMES DO WE HAVE TO TELL YOU PEOPLE DO NOT JOIN EXXON? HOW MANY TIMES? DON'T YOU GUYS GET IT? THIS IS A DEAD COMPANY. THERE IS NO FUTURE HERE. IT IS DONE. DARREN AND HIS GANG HAVE ANNIHILATED WHAT WAS ONCE A FANTASTIC COMPANY TO HAVE A LIFELONG CARREER. EXXON IS TRULY DONE. PLEASE UNDERSTAND IT. IT IS AN HONEST STATEMENT FROM A 20+ YEAR CURRENT EMPLOYEE.

UNLESS YOU DON'T HAVE ANOTHER JOB OFFER AND ARE DESPERATE FOR INCOME, THERE IS NOTHING HERE FOR YOU. PERIOD. ALL JOBS ARE BEING OUTSOURCED TO INDIA AND CHINA. ONLY CHEAP OPERATORS ARE NEEDED HERE. PLEASE, DON'T RUIN YOUR LIFE BY COMING HERE.

GOOD LUCK.

XTO is a much better part of the company to work in than the traditional ExxonMobil portion. Better culture, less judgement. I would take an XTO position if it came up.

It's a $1tth0l3

Run away.

Midland is also very Rednecky. If you are a straight man, be sure you find a partner before you move. Or be ready to date a dude. With cowboy boots. And a big pickup truck. And a serpent as pet. Or a tarantula. And a baseball cup.

Omg, you are advancing all these stereotypes, omg, so inappropriate.

Not racist bruh, realistic. Send my regards to your iguana.

You'll be underpaid by around by 20-30% compared to competitors. You'll work late nights and weekends on projects that don't add value. Your skills will not be valued to the larger organization so you will be pigeonholed to Uncon. Consider this job only if you're desperate. I'm not even an engineer this is just what I've observed.

During the COVID downturn minorities were the first to go. Also, the favorites have already been selected. If you are happy being least favorite and first to go during a layoff then it's the place for you .
