Big Tech Severance = 6X Oracle

Companies can offer as little or much as they choose.

Companies can claw back severance to people that violate the terms, such as disclosing what the awful package and terms really are.

People with a higher risk tolerance should list the details here.

4 weeks for this first year.
1 week for each year of service.
They used my actually start date of the acquired company.
I’m free.

Sound's like y'all need to bug out of Oracle before y'all get the chop!

There are two types of employees at Oracle. Those who are getting RIF'd and those who are going to GET RIF'd.

Seriously, at some point the odds are going to tilt against you. It can happen to anyone and everyone.

The worst part for me was them using the date my company was acquired not my adjusted service date to calc severance.

At the time it cost me about four weeks of severance. The best part was getting TF out of Oracle.

You can also get money clawed back from agreements you signed, like repaying training expenses. Maybe not at Oracle, but it happens.

Always remember that your workplace is NOT a family, and your boss isn’t your friend, no matter how engaging or friendly.

Oracle's severance is middle-of-the-road. There are worse, and there are better, some that are better are much better, some worse are much worse. I know people with other tech companies who have been cut with nothing more than two weeks pay, regardless of how long they had been with the company.
