Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

I'm afraid that the hiring freeze will last a long time

They don't need to lay off people in my area; All they need to do is to maintain the hiring freeze that has been in place for the past 8 months; attrition will take care of the rest.

Exactly. It is surprising how many of my colleagues are leaving despite the dismal job market. The hiring freeze will probably continue to last for a while?

It won’t last that long. It never does. They have to be able to hire a few people they can use as sacrifices when the next layoffs come. Hiring will be allowed so that the incompetent can protect their jobs and the jobs of their suck ups.

What would you advise for someone on-hold waiting for the contract to come through to confirm joining.. 😀?

  1. Do not hold your breath
  2. Keep looking
  3. Stay away from Big Corp Tech (until things settle down. Could be a couple of years.
  4. Seriously consider “private industry”
  5. Find out everything you can about management before accepting. Oracle middle mgmt…some good & others are corrupt, will steal your work and if it can help them then, you are terminated. About the same Calliber maybe not as bad in other Big Tech Corps - however, most are laying off.

Good luck.

Letting me go after being invoked in 57 million dollars of revenue. Yea, great move for shareholder value.

Agree with the previous response. Sooooooo..... somebody claims "they were invoked" in $57M in revenue. WTF does that even mean? My guess is it doesn't mean 💩. Maybe this guy gave a marketing preso at a conference? Maybe he attended some big meetings or con calls and was "invoked" that way? OMG Oracle is SO HOSED, and largely due to the fact that the bulk of the remaining employees are 2nd or 3rd rate. The fact that they continue to clean house is not necessarily a bad thing - that's pretty much their eternal biz model anyway.

“ Letting me go after being invoked in 57 million dollars of revenue. Yea, great move for shareholder value.” if you can’t deliver that every year then it’s no loss and no impact to share holder value. You should have showed consistent revenue. I guess you did not and this was a one off.
