Thread regarding USAA layoffs

Layoffs

I think how our IT leader has stated that cost cutting will happen so probably jobs will be cut. If someone does loose their job, does anyone know what’s the Severn we package like for someone with 3 to 5 years experience.

Budgets are trimmed badly for bonuses. USAA budgets have been continuously shrinking. Going forward promotion opportunities are going be a once a year cycle going forward for the Tech org and a few other lines of businesses. Previously it was a twice a year cycle.

Severance package is 2 weeks for every year you've been with the company. It's pretty standard across the industry. I've heard that tech contractors were on the chopping block from day one when the new leadership came onboard but there was too much work to cut them loose in 2022.

I know a lot of tech leaders that have teams made up of 90% contractors - I'd assume that if they cut that many contractors they'd need to cut some of the tech leadership teams as well.

The severance package details are in the HR portal, it's pretty generous compared to some places I've worked.

Major push to let contractors go by the end of the year. Sadly no staffing to do the work.

I cannot speak to any severance package but do know layoffs have been planned for a few months. The claim is contractors are going to get cut. At the same time, I do not trust management that contractors are the only hits.
