Thread regarding AMN Healthcare Services Inc. layoffs

Massive layoff TODAY

I was w/AMN healthacare for 3 years as a certified remote video medical interpreter. I held consistent 5 star rating, so much so that every year my wages were raised, but today , about 200 of us received a bullsh-t internal email , an email that once read , dissapeared. I thought this was peculiar , but never thought it was a worse case scenario. The email was intenionally vague,it said that we were to place in "meeting " status ..I was working right till the time, then after finishing the call, i placed my self on " meeting" i waited along w others in the teams app, suddenly w/o warning , some collegues w sudden sadness starting writing they are letting all of us go...I couldnt believe it ! No , than you, nothing just a lame email afterwards, It was quite sad , we couldnt even say bye to our collegues.I will miss you guys ! AMN behaved like pu----s... I hope that company,

Laid off all these people and then they are going to Puerto Rico on lavish vacations. Call it President’s Forum or what you may but it’s still a slap in the face to those you fired due to business financial issues.
What a shame! What a terrible message to send to people. Who would want to be at that place. It’s selling your soul to still be there.

Please take note if you still work at AMN. If you survived the recent layoffs, it does not mean you are safe... you just haven't been laid off yet. When the first batch of layoffs happened to outsource positions overseas, people thought because they were kept, they were safe. Slowly everyone is getting replaced. I survived three layoffs, then was let go. It's not if, it's when. At this point everyone should be looking for a new place to work. Otherwise you will be upset and "blindsided" when it's your time. You have the opportunity to find a new place of employment before needing to. If you do, you could be 1-3 years into a better company by the time your ticket would be punched. Get ahead of the curve.

@OP No one who is still there can tell me they are thrilled to be there with everything that has happened over the last few years. They are not doing well as a business and they have to continue to cut costs which means headcount. They typically do one in spring, summer and fall so buckle up. It’s not the layoffs itself but its the heartless way they do it.
It’s a disgusting place to be.

Thank you for the update. Regarding the statement: "Some of the targeted employees included those who have carried Medical Accommodations, Family Medical Leave and Maternity Leave with the company. The Department of Labor will be involved with this mass layoff and AMN Healthcare will be investigated. 03/12/2026"

On the other had, I also heard, these potentially affected, had some connection with the 2023 AMN 3M Lawsuit by participating or requesting their settlement checks, or did not sign the Arbitrage Agreement after hiring, which was not part of their original contracts. But that is a lot of hearsay. However is what some are saying.

Were the majority of impacted employees were full-time or part-time, and were from different language teams, had Health insurance benefits? I wonder what was the criteria. Additionally, I read here there cases of employees who worked 3 years, 5 years and had no prior write-ups, given that their performance management model is only geared for documentation and write-ups , and metrics are generally used to curb raises, how is this posible? I believe 99.9 % of interpreters have some sort of write up, or fabricated negative performance because I heard that anythingis always the interpreter's fault. Is it true? Some say is because of AI. In my opinion they did it for maybe some of the above reasons but also to hire abroad, and skip paying US taxes and benefits. AI, and Title VI are not compatible, so I do agree if tany of it was their intent, their quality of service will fall tremenduously, Who abroad would be able to pay for almost 1.000 dollars in courses and certification, plus have the experience in healthcare in the US market? Maybe they are selling these VERY profitable business where they only profit by squeezing the life out of their interpreters morally and economically ? How they will do in the future we all should see...

@p4 They aren't doing you any favors. Cobra is extremely expensive. Hope you find a new job soon.

It's nice to see AMN has not changed their disgusting behavior towards employees that they "value" so much. I was laid off in 2024, senior recruiter with tons of success, in a quick teams meeting with 300 other people. "We no longer need your service and as of right now you are being laid off." The following week they started hiring people back (if you applied) and that continued for the next few months. Those that survived were telling horror stories on how the company has changed and how it was unrecognizable but like all of us, needed a job. I chose to stay unemployed and sought out my next role carefully. Happy, stable, and safe.

@pw you & your husband were laid off? That is horrible. This company continues to prove that they only care about shareholders & executives.

@OP After three years of working for AMN, my husband and I were part of those 200 that were laid off, we were blindsided to say the least. What a horrible way to let go of the people that “supposedly” they care so much about. It’s completely unacceptable the way they went about it. To keep us working until the last minute, with so much uncertainty and stress, and not allow us to even get paystubs and/or say goodbye to coworkers is so unprofessional, disrespectful and disgusting!!! I never wish bad to anyone but I really wish that this company suffers the same way they are making us suffer. Karma is a bit*#! To the interpreters I worked with I just want to say I will miss you and wish you the best luck out there!!!

For what it's worth, we can still keep our insurance through COBRA for up to 18 months. To AMN's credit, an explanation of how to go about doing that was included in that e-mail they sent to our personal addresses after it was all over.

They can go fu-k themselves for everything else, of course.

AMN has been increasing outsourcing to Mexico and Costa Rica for at least the past year, 2025. They have been working on having all employees sign Arbitration agreements upon hire for years. Their delivery of Massive layoffs to dear colleagues was absolutely distasteful. They talk about being a Team, family, inclusiveness, ethics, and then drag you into Unemployment and homelessness. They do not care who you are as an individual all they care about is their 'evolving business model'. Which is Outsourcing and AI training. AMN Healthcare Lamguage services WILL SINK. Mark my word, they will not last in this industry and every single employee who is left should be very very cautious about their next move. You are NOT valued. You are a metric number to them. Language Operation Managers you disgust me. You put on a facade of care and in reality you've sold your souls. I feel sorry for you higher ups, as people. At least every single Interpreter has the will to help our community. But higher-ups help their pockets. Shame on all of you at AMN.

This company is TRASH. I to was among the 200 employees that got laid off. I worked for 4 years committed to the company never did I receive a write up or never did any on complain of my professionalism. Within 46 seconds exactly we were all laid off via zoom without camera or microphone access. This was just absolutely disgusting. Among all persons that were laid off are persons who have committed more than 10 years to the company and within 46 seconds they were let go. That’s how much they care about their employees. The persons who depended on their insurance only have their insurance effective until 03/13 only 2 DAYS!!! This makes me sick knowing there were colleagues going through serious health conditions and now they will not be able to afford their medications and care. AMN you disgust me never have I been treated like this in my 20+ years as an interpreter. All because you all prefer to pay 5-6 dlls an hour to interpreter in Mexico and Costa Rica you all should feel ashamed for what you have done to all the 200+ employees laid off!!!!!

Now have to try to get another job asap to be able to buy my home or else we are homeless!! This is in your hands and is been dirty! Not even a week at least to let us know in advance to prepare ourselves! I’m even probably pregnant!! So messed up! Hope your success isn’t much eventually!

So much they talk about Ethics, and in the middle of an important session they just shut everyone off, so disappointed. They should of at least told us ahead of time so that we could be prepared many of us have family that depend on us.

@c7 you are absolutely correct. I can’t believe they haven’t outsourced the entire company at this point-except the execs-that would be a tragedy.

@OP I was 4 years with them, the only reason why they did it it's because it is cheaper to pay people from Costa Rica and Mexico, just like any other publicly traded company they want cheap labor and to keep the investors happy.

I’m so sorry you were part of the lay off and how it was conducted. It sounds like they were pretty cold. We received an email at 5pm yesterday that they had made changes to the language services department and I wondered how many people it affected =\
