Good severance could make a huge difference in the coming layoff

I'm worried that the company is planning to reduce severance packages to save more money, which will be devastating for many people. I think offering good severance with at least three weeks per year and extended medical coverage would go a long way in softening the blow of losing our jobs. Sadly, I doubt that's what we'll get.

It's not close to that. You get 1 week per year, but at least 8 weeks min. You'll get 60 days COBRA benefits paid by check.

I believe that std. WFR included up to 9 weeks of payment regardless years of service. Early Retirement program could be different.
