Some seem to be under the mistaken impression they are safe from the coming layoffs. Don't make that mistake. If layoffs here have taught me anything, that's that nobody is safe. I've seen people who've been here for decades and those who joined a year ago let go in the same round. People who are great at what they do were shown the door. There are no guarantees when it comes to layoffs. It's a numbers game.

No matter what sector you are employed in, you should always work under the belief that you’ll be laid off eventually, its just a matter of time.
This is motivational fuel to:
Save more money.
Update your skills and\or resume.
Pay off your loans sooner.
Network more.
Keep a pulse on who’s hiring, what is in demand, what skills are the new trend.
It truly is a numbers game. Some one out there runs a excel spreadsheet formula that spits out “whatever criteria” to be let go. Criteria selection is flexible. It could be tenure, pay, age (even though its against the law, age is a factor), groups, location, who knows.
What group will it impact?
