Has anyone went to HR over mistreatment from a superior and had a good outcome? This individual seems to take great pleasure in belittling and putting me down. They only do this to me and when there are no witnesses. This is not a daily occurrence, but has occurred more than it should. On the days that they are not being completely disrespectful they are cordial but still treat me differently than others. This seems to be the norm here with people in "power positions", but we should not have to tolerate it. With everyone being asked to do more with less and morale at an all time low, this is an unnecessary stress added to an already stressful work environment.

@2qc I must be fortunate then because I don’t see any of this age stuff happening in my group at all. None of the product lines around where I sit are experiencing this. In my product line alone we have employees in their 70’s, far past this mythical age 50, and they aren’t being pushed out. They will likely work until 75 or longer. They survived the recent layoffs without any issues.
Hate to hear this is still going on at TI. I’m long gone from there but this is the same tactic they used on me. If you’re in your late 40’s then they want to rotate you out before hitting your 50’s. It gives TI a lower health care premium having the older folks and their ailing spouse’s out. When they brag about the average age in the group, then you really know. But at least it is satisfying to know when looking back seeing the same managers who pushed me out were also pushed out. Some were lucky enough to retire.
seconded on the ethics hotline vs HR. You'll get nowhere without any sort of evidence however. HR in my experience at TI is always buddy buddy with management and always takes their side.
Also seconded on the JOS out recommendation, if you're not on a PIP and you don't get along with your manager then you will soon be on a PIP. Once you are it's impossible to move within TI.
If you have a problem go to ethics not HR. HR is there to protect TI not the employee's.
Almost every manager has a "whipping boy" -- someone they mistreat to some degree. Some managers are more blatant than others. Having worked at TI for more than 30 years, and been the "whipping boy" on more than one occasion -- my advice: get out.
Either change roles within TI, or find a job in another company. Life's too short to put up with that kind of BS.
