January layoffs vs July

There are just a lot of rumors of Jan rifs but logically won't the layoffs in July be larger since its when our fiscal year ends?

There were layoffs in PCoE in January 2022. Doesn't mean they will do the same for 2023, only pointing out that layoffs occurred at the beginning of the year.

Logic doesn't play a part. Microsoft laid off handfuls of people all year long in 2022 beginning in 2022. I suppose it was logical to them. A little at a time to relieve the budget but not enough to cause an immediate panic.
