Thread regarding HP (Hewlett-Packard) layoffs

I wish we knew more

I think it's unfair to drop a bo-b that 6k employees will be laid off over the next three years and not provide any additional info. It would be great to know if the management plans to implement a few major rounds or if we're looking at constant small layoffs for the foreseeable future. It would also be nice to know when it will all start. We need more transparency.

Yep. The HP way is to keep paying you what you initially got hired in for with inflation factored in. "A cost of living increase is not a valid pay raise" - my current employeer.

Yeah, I started planning my exit strategy last summer and I was starting to lose hope when I finally received a couple really good offers in November. I left right before the layoff announcement and received a huge raise in the process.

Laying off five to six thousand employees in a company that has over fifty thousand employees pretty much sums it up. The announcement is more of a business statement that says “Hey we still exist, and can layoff employees just like the other tech companies too”.
