So...who is impacted?

Am I surprised about the layoff? NO
Was it necessary? Absolutely ... too many unproductive folks abusing benefits such as wellness days and not turning up anything ..
Am I angry and sad? Yes,
why you ask? you said you wanted to trim fat but you took away muscle !!!
Starboard owns a few percent of the stock at best. They are not "the owners".
Marc no longer owns Salesforce. He sold it when it went public. Please remember that folks. It's a coincidence that he's still at the helm and a pleasant surprise that 1-1-1 has survived so far. "Starboard Value" is the owner. That's where the f capitalism is. Marc and his team are just executives.

For Account Execs and sales adjacent folks - do we think they will wait until February to "fire" anyone in sales so that they can claim it was performance based and not a layoff? That way they don't have to pay the 5 mos severance. Those fired in Nov only got 8 weeks. I can see them pulling something like that. Thoughts?
Sales people - were you affected? If so, what country/segment? if not, are you hearing anything about if we are safe or when we will hear? Hearing Feb 1
Lessons learned folks! Every single company has to be profitable. Companies are not family nor f… friends. It’s a business. We sell our labour/knowledge for a price. As long as BOTH sides profits all is ok. Termination of contracts is a normal business way of saying “I don’t see my profit, so I quit the contract “. Feel sorry for all folks believing in Ohana or “being family” or Beniof’s “I love you all” BS. It’s f capitalism, it’s business. Learn skills, be employable or run your own one person company!
Mark states that he "hired too many people during the pandemic" yet eliminates mostly .org and people with multi years with the company while new hires in the past 2 years are still with the company. The .org elimination speaks to the new direction of the company culture away from giving back 1-1-1 model. So much for a new kind of company, this is all about money, plain and simple. Not too mention a question and answer page for payroll and benefit questions that is not user accessible, printable, or downloadable and is only available for 7 days! this is a cluster f#@%.
Almost 5k slack user profiles were deactivated last night, which would be the US people only. In Europe they are not allowed to revoke your access so it sounds like they may have fired all 8k last night.
Alliances and Channels impacted in Singapore and ANZ.
Email received from Brett. Call with ES /HR tomorrow morning to get the details
Ohana, it’s Hawaiian for “I can do whatever the F I want”
M Benioff 22”
Please say what orgs you are part of.
Anyone from Customer Experience? A little nervous.
Has anyone in APAC been affected? If so, can you share your country and org?
Sales was impacted now and in November
One thing is for sure... the city of S.F. (and the rest of the World) got a BIG phallus out of all this...
The H1B guys in my team are safe.
guy on my team 15 years at the company gone
They would be crazy to lay off sales reps in the busiest month at end of the year. Seems mostly non-sales roles this time.
Do I think there will be major shakeups come Q1 for sales? Yes. Salesforce publically stated this they hoped to be ending cuts by the END OF FY2024.
I can’t see sales being hit until after Jan
Anybody know what factors were looked at for the layoffs? I know a high performing employee who got canned. The manager claimed they did not have any prior knowledge. Was it location?
My boss didn’t even know that her directs were getting laid off until after the fact.

I know quite a few people in .org product management and support were let go.
No one in .org sales affected yet. Do we think they are waiting till end of Jan for sales layoffs?
I know of at least 2 in Legal
Which orgs have been touched?
Received an email from Brent right after Benioffs email. Last day is March 24. Was told in the email I’ll be moved to non working status till termination date. Email will be shut off in a week. Slack is shut off, cannot communicate with peers to hand off task. Not a peep from management prior. Salesforce is straying from their core values every day. No different from any major tech company. It’s sad to see where the direction of this once Ohana family is going.
Email layoffs and no call from a Manager. Unbelievable.
I didn't receive an email but given how terribly this is being handled, I don't trust I'm in the clear. I'm going to be permanently on edge from now on. Go anxiety.
Had my role eliminated, Finance org. Had a bunch of work lined up too. 7 years of service. Been very loyal to the company. Unable to access Slack. Completely blind sided, I was on a finance all hands call recently and no mention or hint from senior leadership.
I am Enterprise sales at Japan.
I am emailed layoff too. My manager slack me.
Same here - what a bunch of fu----g cowards
I don’t think I was affected as I didn’t get an email. This is a terrible way to treat people!
What role were you in?
Layoff via email… cowards. 10% of North America? Eliminating roles until they I open hiring in 6 months.
Me - via email at 6am eastern from Benioff stating that there is going to be a 10% reduction and those effected would know within the hour and then ar 615am from Hyder eliminating my role.
