Thread regarding DIRECTV layoffs

Tremendous talent was lost today

It’s so sad that about 10% of the management team has been laid off. There is a lot of good talent that has been lost today. For those impacted, keep your chin up. The market isn’t as bad as it might seem for all of your wonderful skill sets- opportunities will come. Maintain your relationships and keep pushing forward.

Talent lost today (1/6/23)? Sorry, DTV at one point had a vast array of talent in its employee portfolio (including the corporate suite). AT&T did everything they could to chase off those talents so this is nothing new. AT&T is a cancer, nothing more or less.

I am a front line agent. The managers they cut were the back bone to directv. They know there stuff hands down. It's all buddy system picked. I ask for help and no one knows where to go. Cutting people pre NFL shows the competence of this company when we needed them through that season and now cutting not only highly talented people, but their lack of empathy cutting them after their holiday where people spend the most.

The issue with DirecTV is that since streaming came along it's been passed around like a two-bit ho. Unless you're waaaaay out in the sticks with no Internet, streaming is better in every way, and DISH is way less bloated than DTV. It has no reason to exist in the USA.

The people that were cut on my team were awesome. One I trained and the other helped me when I came to the group. DTV cut the muscle and not the fat. When you start cutting good people across the board, it ki--s morale and people see no matter how good a job they do, they still will be cut. It's like cancer. It ki--s the body and in the end ki--s itself because the host does not survive. Unless there is a massive turn around there will be more layoffs.
