Unfortunately, there are many who think that layoffs are inevitable. Any thoughts?

I think the reason for all of these questions lately is that fact that departments across the board have been asked to make significant cuts to their budgets for 2023. People automatically think "layoffs" when they hear that. But I've heard nothing about any reduction in staff and they are continuing to hire new people at a fast rate. It's obviously not impossible, but I would expect any upcoming layoffs to be very small and very targeted. I don't foresee anything on a wide scale in the near future.
The company had a great year. Most of us got better bonuses than expected given the board voted to give us more. There are always restructures based in business needs at a given time but that does not lead to layoffs. It means people will move under different leadership depending on their jobs. Whoever is saying layoffs are inevitable does not know what is really going on in the company
