Thread regarding Gannett Co. Inc. layoffs

Retained employees

I received a notice and my last day is June 14th, but I'm interested in what criteria they used to decide which employees to retain, because among them I know a few who are certainly not some of the best?

These were fair answers, but a month later?

They decided who to retain and rebadge out of personal want. Infrastructure has 3 rebadges at least, Infinite has shown in KA they're out of their league outside of the Network team sessions, and directors told Gannett employees they "didn't know anything" all along while they were sitting in the meetings and the contract signings perfectly aware of who they intended to protect.

I'd say Doug should be livid because Gannett's done for based on current outlook, but this has been the Gatehouse way and now it's come to roost.

I’m guessing they retained certain folks based on their level of pay being lower and that they could be leveraged for help when things go south with the outsourcer. I’m also guessing those retained are just being retained for now until the company sees how the transition goes and then they will be subject to further reductions.

they said they retained based on core Knowledge. so like if the remote contract people drop the ball, there will be a core knowlage group to keep things afloat or train new people. if, yea if they are cheaper than cognizant its WHEN not if. The website and CMS support team was taking back jobs that cognizant could not handle or was messing up monthly. If it requires actual thinking and more than reading a knowlage article to solve, chances are it will get messed up. Good luck to those left behind
