Thread regarding Gannett Co. Inc. layoffs

Does this mean no more layoffs?

The company reported a net income of $32.77 million in the quarter compared with a loss of $22.45 million a year earlier. The results benefited from a nearly 30% rise in digital-only circulation revenues and lower operating expenses. It was the company’s first quarterly profit since the third quarter of 2021.

All of Enterprise Infrastructure just got notified that June 14th would be our last day with all functions being transferred to Infinite.

Basically anyone that works under the CTO is being laid off or temp rebadged with Infinite.

They sent an email to the whole digital team that they are

  1. Moving the current IT outsourcing from one Indian company to another
  2. Expanding the outsourcing and we are losing spots/possibly whole teams from Applications, Infrastructure & Networking, Enterprise Support Services, Identity & Access Management and Tech Operations.

They will let everyone know in 2 days what their job status is.

For the C-Level who act like the rest of us don't exist, this doesn't mean much other than a sign they should cut more positions / offshore to the cheapest company. All of the VSO departures and other paper / print facility cuts they've made contributed to that bump from Q4.
