Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

They’re watching you

You never know what the management will do next. They are watching your every move. Looking towards the next round of layoffs. You can’t trust anyone these days. It’s hard to tell whose in and whose out.

Let them watch. They can come for my worthless options - too late.

Besides you're looking at this all wrong. All-things AI will be eliminating our jobs soon enough and if there's a company that'll embrace that option as fast as it can, this is the one. Better figure out soon how to handle this demon because it's coming for us.

No reason to get mad at management for these staff reductions. This is what happens when $$$$ is the god of our society. Also, keep in mind 'we' took the $$$ and did it to everyone else over the past several decades without shedding a tear and now it's our turn.

Exactly- everything works in cycles. The industry has changed and is changing faster than ever. AI will discover things that, many want hidden. employees and management will be replaced and some mgmt folks will have to pay for they did. It's a new day -- the sun has aleady started rising -- and things will be different. Upper mgmt will make more money -- mid mgmt will be lost, especially those 10 years from retirement. They are in trouble. Lucky for the ones that are at retirement age.

I get the point about manipulative metrics but my point was that metrics dont work when you cant lead by example. Maybe its cause im in my mid 20s but There's the famous saying "the numbers dont lie" but you just said was in business math class there was "how to lie with statistics" I dont think it works that way... you cant enforce metrics and kpis and all that stuff and manage a bad team because the numbers spotlight on you and then what... If you are fudging the numbers thats just unethical and unless there is some thing im missing... thats literally the definition of lacking accountability.

You will feel that way until the specter of manipulative metrics comes for you. Here’s a book we boomers were assigned in business math class: “How to Lie with Statistics”.

As a new employee this is a no brainer. Every move is monitored.

If half y'all boomers thought you had a job for life you're id--ts. There are so many people on my team who think they are next in line for a promotion after bs'ing clients for years acting like experts meanwhile they act like they know everything... sitting in the same role for 10 years waiting for your turn in line... get a grip on reality. Post pandemic life is different and the job market has changed.

Only the leaders and performers move up. Half of the managers who put people on PIP's because of lack of performance couldn't even get themselves an interview for a role that pays 20% less than what they currently make. Managing via metrics has never worked for those who cant lead by example.

“ All-things AI will be eliminating our jobs soon enough “

Best, most realistic quote of 2023.

Somebody needs to be watching them.
They are on here, for sure because they don't have anything to do except wait until they take something else from someone and/or Oracle. Its unbeleivable what at least one that, has left a sloppy trail has taken from Oracle. Things will be very interesting when he is finally exposed.
