Thread regarding Nielsen layoffs

Non Compete

I am currently interviewing with a company that I think might be a competitor of Nielsen but I am not sure. I am trying to understand the severance agreement I signed and hoping someone can help me out. Are we not allowed to work for a competitor during our severance period or is it longer like 3 years.

How much severance money did they offer you? Was it significant? Declining an agreement is always an option.

I understood it that we cannot work for any companies that are part of the Elliott Management group and/or any company that engages in audience measurement. So much for being able to use your experience.

Also, you are supposed to inform them as soon as you get a job (whom/how, I don't know). When I asked an attorney about this, he said that non-competes are enforceable in the state of Florida.

I believe the evil PE firm that bought Nielsen would go to great lengths to further mess with employee's lives and will track you. Just my 2 cents.

There is a link in the description of the video https://youtu.be/TsqwzaINsLg where if downloaded, on page 15-19 there is a severance agreement from a number of years ago. Is that severance agreement the same or similar to yours?

Granted, my departure was a few years ago but I NEVER ONCE even read my agreement! Lol. Don't worry about it. It's garbage. Unless your a true mover n shaker in the biz, like a big dog, they won't care. Trust me. Oh, and how does one determine a Nielsen "competitor" in 2023? Comscore? Who the fk knows. Get a job and take care of you and your family.
