Why is Macys suddenly doing a mid year inventory on Fine Jewelry, Cosmetics and a few select departments? This is a first…Is there something they aren’t telling us?

From the responses here, clearly some stores have done a mid year inventory for a while and others have not. My store has huge shrink in Fragrance and I'm in Fulfillment so I welcome this. We should do it again in January IMO. We're doing it for the first time.
Agree with most other comments. But besides the big production post holiday inventory takes, I just assume company is trying anything to avoid shelling out tons of money trying to incentivize people to volunteer overnights after the holidays.
The plan is to take most non rfid departments during the interim inventory and then in January do a true rfid scan inventory for the other areas. We are told that we won’t have to inventory these interim areas in January but don’t bet on that. Almost assuredly cosmetics and fragrances will be done again in January and if the inventory results are bad this June so will the other areas.
My store has done a mid year inventory for cosmetics for yrs nothing new. Jewelry is s high ticket item so they may want to check the inventory before they put more funds into those items. We are also doing Backstage which will be a NIGHTMARE!!!
Guess it depends on the volume the jewelry counter has done in the past…. I have been in jewelry for over 10 years and we have never had mid year inventory.
Nope not new- we have done FJ midyear for at least 5 years.
New for FJ but Cosmo has always had a mid year inventory.
I don’t think Fine Jewelry was included in the mid year inventory in the past.
Yes, suddenly. This is new for Fine Jewelry.
Where have you been? Suddenly lol!
We have done mid year inventory in beauty for several years now. It is so the on hand can be reconciled for fulfillment and open to buy. Just like we do cycle counts for the total store each month to update our on hand catalog for Omni. In theory after each cycle count, and inventory your Omni results should improve.
We are getting away from the post holiday inventory
