Next step = Product sale???

Just wondering, now that the layoffs are done/almost done, is KE considering selling off and products for further savings?? Any thoughts what products might go??

Would not be surprised if Google eventually bought Sabre. They tried and failed to enter the travel world with Flights, because they could not break the double-sided network effect of the GDSs.

Google would be in it purely for the customers, and would be quite a natural suitor. They are building Sabre's technological backbone now, so integration should be relatively straightforward. They should also find it well within their abilities to take over and improve the customer-facing products from there.

The main issue is that the stock price is almost too low for a deal to be accepted by Sabre, at even a very high % premium to the current price.

It's probably a 2024/5+ thing if it happens. Sabre would need to finish stabilising its business first.

a company with only debts and outdated technology shouldn't be spending that much. the what-so-called leaders shouldn't get bonuses, 13&14 salary and other benefits. once they bring results, maybe then they should receive money. if funny how much incompetence they carry on their shoulders not being able to understand basic maths

Meanwhile callous id--ts like D.R., our illustrious Sales leader, are posting about the latest and greatest success stories at whatever money-sucking industry event they attend. Wining and dining with their unlimited expense accounts while the rest of us keep the lights on.

There's no chance Google is going to buy Sabre. CWT is also laying off people and hoping for something similar... like B.com coming in and buying out there customer base. These companies have been riding their existing enterprise customer base for years, refusing to innovate because customers just want them to back-support a bunch of old tech and create one-off solutions for them. The most valuable thing these companies own at this point is their customer base. That's what they're going to try and sell, so if they sell it will be to someone who wants their customers not their technology.

i've never really understood why people keep saying google would want to buy sabre. could someone explain why they think sabre fits in with google's overall strategy?

the layoffs at google in january disproportionately affected google flights (which was formed from its acquisition of ITA). most analysts see it as a sign that google is deemphasizing its air-related, if not all travel-related business.

Oracle has been rumored to want the SHS product. It makes sense to me…. There’s no way that unit will survive considering all the experience they let go, and Sabre obviously can’t survive in the current business model.

IQ of an average Sabre engineer equals a salad in Google.

Google can buy Sabre as the kitchen service. The complex pricing engine to price toilet paper.

With all due respect, Motorola Mobility’s patent portfolio was HUGE. Sabre is not even close. Having said that, Sabre’s integration with Flights is a nice add-on and for 3 USD a share if Sabre can show they can stop burning money (selling SHS and firing everyone else who’s left) it may be a bargain. Time will tell
