Thread regarding Sabre Holdings layoffs

There's no point in staying at Sabre!

I've only been here for two years and I already hate it. The base salary ain't cutting it, there's no chance for career growth, and the job itself is boring. Having layoffs at a time when there are more and more employees who are thinking like me is brave, I have to admit.

They pay me enough not to quit, so I do enough not to get fired.

You’d have to be crazy to not at least consider leaving. They laid off a lot of their best employees, didn’t even pay a full week and cut off ALL benefits effective immediately. It’s the most pathetic move I’ve ever seen.

They don’t plan on recovering. Get out while you can.

so dont stay, if you can do better somewhere else then do it. I think the future in this business is currently quite insecure, big debts to be paid and an uncertain recovery. We just canned some of our best employees on the basis of dollars only, ability didnt enter into the equation. Did the stock price recover any as a result of this move, no. I wish this company well and have a lot invested in it but I have a lot of doubts as to how its future will turn out.

they received bonuses on the day of firing people. they deceived employees that some wrongly voted all positive on survey and got them the great place to work certificate and once they received it they announced about the merits being moved just to buy them time to initiate their lay off plans. they justified again these layoffs with the same reasoning as the previous ones..they bi yearly layoffs... and you still believe these executives will do something better? all employees should have left them for better places not keep supporting them. clearly these executors care only on how much bonus they will receive and how many people they will fire so they show revenue from the payroll cuts.. is the d-mbest thing ever and the worse place to work

So, leave the company. There are many layoffs happening nowadays in the tech industry, but there are also a lot of new job offers available. Two years is enough time to learn something new in a different workplace without being considered a job hopper. If you still have a job, you can look for a new one without feeling too much pressure. So, there's no need to hurry, and don't forget to negotiate your offer. I mentioned that you still have a job because it seems that investors are not happy about the layoffs. Perhaps it was just the first round, and I suspect the company is currently in a 'wait and see' state. The next quarter and the upcoming financial results are still uncertain. Some analysts predict a 50% chance of an economic crisis within the next 12 months, which means the rebound in air travel could turn into an industry slowdown.
