I invested many years at Sabre just to be left out in the cold like an unwanted old pet. I was potty trained and thought I was obedient. Always remember everyone is expendable so have a plan B. I did not.

It is obvious you missed the key traits of sniffing and licking bu-t else you'd still be there.
Walt is that you???
A couple of decades ago, my boss made us all read “Who Moved My Cheese”. Since 2001, I have always known it could be me. Sabre got A LOT from me but I also gained a lot in my time. Sabre gave me invaluable industry knowledge and exposure to industry colleagues. I’ve networked my whole time at Sabre. I’ve never felt they owe me anything other than a paycheck and possibly severance when the time came. I’m not executive, I’m not management. I’m just a worker and that’s exactly what I like.
I LOVED my time at Sabre. I am thankful for all the great people I worked with!
Sabre is not the same company anymore. Sad but true.
Moving on… at age 61… to something new.
they like them young which are easy to manipulate. people with experience are not likeable (not sure why they hire them in the first place). If you come from the industry you can tell immediately that senior executives and their puppies have limited knowledge, they are terrible with people and stuck in the 90's not keeping up with the changes. One thing they are pretty good and I give them credit is the talking. They are very good with speech that many fall and believe. Probably they took some acting classes. But that's about it. Don't feel sad for a company with long history not valuing their staff.. let them sink and fade in the past where they should be long time ago
It’s hard to be loyal to a company when you know there will be another lay off down the road. There always is. That is who Sabre is. On average they lay off every other year. In the 90s and early 2000 they laid off every year usually during March or so.
It’s amazing how “Your Company” is all about how important you are and works hard to garner that we are here for you. Till You are a Liability and Sorry but your position has been eliminated. If you call BS when the “look at the great culture “ we all have speech, poster, get togethers is being rolled out and you are made to feel bad if you question it. Hard not to be angry at the ones who one day tell you how much you are appreciated then the next here is the Pkg. So look after yourself first then the company..
I do feel bad for you. The thing is that it is easy to think of a company as "my company, they take care of me" - but in most cases, they don't.
Your company is you, full stop. You are in charge of your own branding, your own training etc.
Leverage the "ex-Sabre employees" on Linkedin and you will be able to land on your feet.
Best of luck
It’s hard being a Old timer and get kicked aside like old rubbish by the new leaders in charge of making the hard decisions to RIF. The new pet do not want to know or care about the old timers because they are going to fire them to keep their jobs. Hard to not take personal but cannot help it. Get a plan A,B etc before more dire things happen
