Thread regarding USAA layoffs

Will the EMG/C-Suite stay for a long time?

1 of the worst things at USAA has been the change from great military leaders to failed bank leaders and people who leave every 2 years after outsourcing.

I do love USAA and I was thinking of sticking with it until those “leaders” leave, but unsure if they’d actually leave. It’s probably a very cushy gig for them.

There’s also not as much of a RTO pushback that I thought there would be - Amazon and other areas are resisting, but after listening to those leaders speak, most employees stopped complaining about RTO, so that’s probably there to stay.

The old school military leaders are fantastic for culture but aren’t they the ones that got the company in regulatory trouble? The consent order required is to hire the bank leaders.

They need a good mix of both.

They'll hang on as long as the gravy train is choo-choo-chooing down the track.

Thanks to us being a large financial company, the days of having military leaders in senior exec positions are gone. No more flag officers, so the norm will be bankers and career corporate suits with no loyalty to the mission or culture. Be loyal to yourself and your career, not a company or leader. Even the best leaders will get pushed out eventually. That's the nature of the business nowadays.

Who would leave? It seems like the ones in ECIO would stay, but I can see the ones in bank leaving

A lot of these folks were brought in simply to get us through the consent order and will be gone soon after.

I have a deep suspicion that many EMG/C Suite folks will start to leave within 6 months after the close of the CO. It looks great on the CV/resume that they were responsible for guiding the company thru a rigorous regulatory exam

I've heard we have a TON of new employees that are exec level coming through NEO.
