Because the demand for chips are way down and sales of fab equipment are sliding, Lam has decided to close all sites in the USA for a week............this week.
I do not know if it is unpaid or paid.

This is terrible news. LOL!
"generally they use PTO to cover forced shutdowns" - so it was unpaid for those who did not have PTO. I imagine salary workers were fine but hourly workers were screwed.
generally they use PTO to cover forced shutdowns. Lam is overhired like a lot of other companies. The layoff was mild and assumes no recession or very mild recession.
