Thread regarding MetLife Inc. layoffs

Managers are the weakest link

I've changed 4 jobs so far and I've never had such incompetent manager with inflated ego like I do here. It is becoming increasingly difficult to deal with him. Why does this company have such bad managers? (exceptions are rare)

My VP spends 9-3 “volunteering” in another group and the AVP cannot keep up with the work she assigned to others.

HR and ER are a joke. Always will take the company’s side so don’t bother. It’s a broken company in every way.

@1lct+1mr5TRV9 'socially stunted' is spot on. What's worse is the abject nepotism. Dad's getting daughters hired, husband getting wife's hired and in the same departments. This place is rife with the biggest BS culture ever. Top leadership asks for ridiculously long power point slides (100+ slides) every week as if this is the way to focus on the problem at hand. Many in IT leadership barely understand people management on top of the fact a lot of the 'entrenched' individuals (6+ years) have HR on speed dial to whine at a moments notice if they are given everything. It's pathetic the amount of backstabbing that goes on here. Geesh!

Yeah. I was told to look at MyPath as a career development tool. LOL. My manager is a complete loser.

@1lct+1mr5TRV9 Spot On! It's like some weird cult. The SLT think they are royalty and won't dare associate themselves with the masses. Occupy the masses with MyPath is the equivalent to Let Them Eat Cake. Then these same leaders will go to great lengths to protect their charity case hires, who wreak havoc on the rest of us.

I’ve never worked with so many socially stunted people. It’s as if they all are on the spectrum . They don’t interact like normal people. So concerned with showing their real self. It is painful to just be around or work with them.

Then there is the obvious a-s kissing cliques of the Senior managers that form superficial relationships with other Senior managers. And if you don’t have an important title you don’t exist. You could not possibly be in OUR league.

There are exceptions but few.

Exactly. Highly incompetent. I do my work before time and submit for review but my manager takes ages to review and closure and all my hard work goes in vain as he misses the deadline all the time , All the Time. They Just dont want to work. They don’t come to office and have a new reason everyday for that. Enjoying free PTO’s. Highly frustrating. High quality resources are getting wasted here. I know many ppl who hardly work 1-2 hrs a day but the Junior need to work full 40+ hours/ week and more
