Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Just got axed after being a top performer for many many years.

My options are below:

Early exit - 8/31
+ 4 month base salary
+ Lump sum to help with COBRA
+ Nov 10th RSU will vest
+ Year end bonus

Standard exit - 10/16
+ 3 month base salary
+ Lump sum to help with COBRA
+ Nov 10th RSU will vest
+ Year end bonus

"Walked with like 10.5 months pay (including options, extra years service payout). Had 16 years in. 2017." Lies lies lies

The same thing happened to my friend. It is about saving money, nothing else. You are given lots of stock options in lieu of salary, you are very happy at the time, then they lay you off and they don't need to pay you that. It is part of the devious strategy Cisco has that they don't want you to know. It is totally legal, nevertheless, Cisco wants you to think it is to help retain employees, yet it is used for other purposes. I don't know how anyone with a conscious can work in Sr leadership or HR at Cisco.

Question. Early and Standard exits will be ended up the same in terms of benefit?

How do you guys not get it by now.

LRs are annual and Cisco is well known for LRs and RB cost cuts.

LRs are only good for keeping lazy management. Don't be surprised. LR is a badge of honor because Cisco thinks you make too much and you should be making more and you do all the work.

Sounds like they are getting stingy on the payout since LRd six years ago.

4 months pay? How many years did you have in?

Walked with like 10.5 months pay (including options, extra years service payout). Had 16 years in. 2017.

OP, which package will you be going with? And others as well, if applicable.

"You know what? I contribute the most in our team. I excel in everything in the team. But never have I received any award or Connected Recognition. Not even once! The rest have received awards and Connected Recognitions. I'm the only one that hasn't."

well, since recognitions are given out by others outside your management, ever thought maybe the problem is just you ?

What question did they axe you about?

I took the pandemic era early separation when they paid older white males to leave, and we were replaced pretty fast with non-WMs.
I suggest take the early exit and 4 months. This always your brain to disconnect from Cisco and move forward. Otherwise you stay connected and in a limbo state of mind.

It’s other things than being the top performer. Most often people are good workers but have bad attitudes and poor interpersonal skills. I’m not saying this is your issue but there is more to an employee’s work profile than being a top performer.

"Cisco is the coldest, most unfriendly, most unmerciful, most unreasonable company I've ever worked"

Say you never worked for IBM without saying you never worked for IBM.

JRD, how long have you been in the workforce? If you think Cisco is all that sh---y, try working at other large-scale companies. Yes, Cisco could be doing more. Yes, they could be doing things better, he-l you can say that about anyone and everyone. What I know is that in the 10 years I have been here, it's far and above any other employer I have ever worked for. The grass ISN'T always greener, but hey, if you believe you NEED recognition, stop bi--hing and go find out why you aren't getting it. If you know why, put in a plan of action to change it. If this team is what you say it is, then work to move elsewhere, where your work is recognized and rewarded.

November RSU vesting isn't much of an "advanced acceleration". I would expect at least Q1 2024.

@ehw, just ignore the local troll, his post will probably get deleted pretty soon.

Stop with the diversity hire BS! It’s old and tired. Get your disgruntled a$$ on!!

Just some food for thought: Some if not most “diversity hires” as you call them are educated, experienced professionals. Just something to think about before you go on your racist tirade again.

Were you just born yesterday? Such is this company. Very unreasonable and unfair.
You know what? I contribute the most in our team. I excel in everything in the team. But never have I received any award or Connected Recognition. Not even once! The rest have received awards and Connected Recognitions. I'm the only one that hasn't.

Why don’t you take the standard exit and get paid more months? Once you get a new job you’re cut off?

Our team lost their best performer yesterday (not me). Doesn’t make any sense as this person is clearly our best asset.

I am assuming you do not need to perform anymore or is your leadership still believing in unicorns ? If so there is two week extra
