When major recruiters start to lay people off, the accounts disappear. When any recruiter gets laid off, the RTR goes in limbo. If you can't reach your recruiter, should you go ahead and entertain other offers on a job you RTRed for? The big question. Especially when the big recruiter themselves may not have a dashboard that actually answers calls. It also makes you wonder, if the recruiter was planning to have you as their employee, how safe your job is with them.
If you are going to lay anyone off, make sure the switchboard your recruiter was on has a person staffing it during normal business hours. Emails get lost. Voice mails may not be heard because of reception issues. Only live real person interaction enables you to verify everyone got covered after the layoff.
