Starting to see LinkedIn posts about Hatch Labs team members being laid off.

Basically the Hatch Lab employees are the reason Giant Eagle prices are considerably higher then its competitors.
They were the team that developed the GE app, but yes...all they did was stonewall other department's work and act as a huge impediment to actually getting stuff done.
They live in San Francisco and get paid tons of money to do basic marketing/tech stuff but get paid California wages to work for a PA company. Sweet gig if you can get it. Oh, and they also get a gym membership allowance along with a bunch of other stuff normal folks in PA don't.
What is Hatch Lab and what do the team members do? I have been working at the store level for years and have never heard of it.
No layoffs this year.. Keeping prices high is allowing Giant Eagle to continue as is for another year. Obviously next year when the union contract expires we will start to experience financial difficulties.
I heard about people IT, and some in Recruiting. I wasn’t familiar with any others. Are they done or is this just the beginning?
Sounds like it was a mix of IT, GEB and Hatched. I'm hearing 100 laid off overall
