Being a private company, there is no requirement to prove these claims via actual FY balance sheets and P&Ls to external stakeholders. As we know internally, over the years scant level of financial detail has been shared with executive leadership held accountable to internal stakeholders, aka employees. Still largely vague charts with the axes unlabeled, if even that.

Meanwhile, it appears the 3rd VERO is "helping" a lot of hard-earned embodied tribal knowledge out the door. Some incredible employees understandably taking an offer they would be fools to refuse. Appears some groups will be absolutely gutted. Forced RTO doing its part to force more out the door "with cause". Then it appears another round of layoffs is inevitable, adding to the thousands fired over the last decade. The majority to date were years before the current CEO.

Pass me another cup of that Koolaide... tasty!

Oh yes, very nice Bose just introduced two refreshed headphones and the earbuds. Other than pretty ho-hum reviews in a very crowded market with many premiere competitors, the Ultra serves to highlight the huge investments, development delays, and hype of the 700 headphones released in 2019 were a disaster against their intended and needed impact in the market.

The John Oliver video on YouTube is funny, accurate and sad at the same time. It paints the McKinsey culture influence on what we are seeing at Bose today. Search for John Oliver McKinsey video on YouTube for some light entertainment for times such as these.

They are letting people go based on what they think the company will be the impression I always get is they want to compete in a vacuum they want to be the best, but if they’re not the best they choose to not engage in that category. The sunglasses are a great example. Cool idea never really took off didn’t seem like they tried very hard and none of the retail partners really took off with it so gone Eco two products are a joke, because Eco one was meant to coexist with Eco to our they were going to merge together they never did so many things at Walmart was not a great idea and oversaturating the distribution probably was not a great idea either. I worked in retail and you know as far back is like 2007 2008 before you could never buy anything except a rack now at Best Buy target Walmart home shopping network QVC so they have all these places that sell it just less than most people who seem into it because the market is going away from them because the products keep under performing My ecobee two products have not received a new music service in years and all the updates are just under the hood is nothing noteworthy it’s kind of pathetic

Rather than focussing on the current CEO, think about the former CEO who has been either President or Chairman during most of the company's bad times. How can he still be in charge? He really should have been booted after his disastrous appoinment of Hess to run the company. Into the ground.

when do they start shutting down Yuma? Or the place in MI? This FY? I’d guess consolidation back into the two big remaining distribution hubs? Then maybe some more shakeups in the rest of the world as they figure out distribution partners who can fully meet the requirements. Any ideas?

Let's look at the history well prior to the current CEO (and implied attitudes) appearing 3 years ago this month in 2020. (During the front end of the pandemic.) Not really to defend the current CEO and the last 3 years, but to bring some broader historical context to the conversation and some of the other threads about Bose Layoffs.

  1. As the original poster accurately observed, "...adding to the thousands fired over the last decade. The majority to date were years before the current CEO".

I would add that it is a fact that mid-4-digits of employees were fired in the 3-4 years after Dr. Bose passed in 2013. Sure, some high numbers were pushed out along with various Bose asset sales, including all Bose factories. But, no longer Bose employees.

  1. Year after year like clockwork since 2017, the firings continued, easily totaling high-3-digits some years.
  1. Recall - the state-of-the-art Bose Malaysia factory built front from the ground up in 2013 and sold in 2016 at a loss? Also Ireland, Columbia US, and Mexico plants sold off in the same timeframe? Project Sound sold off in 2017 after double-digit millions invested since the 1980s and no automotive products ever produced? Over a hundred Bose retail stores closed in early 2020 with all those employees let go - in stores and the corporate functions? And much more.
  1. All was well prior to the current CEO (and implied attitudes) appearing 3 years ago this month in 2020.

I wonder if they'll be firing people based on physiology... Those not as experienced as the old guys getting nixed just need extra tools and help and they can be just as good as the brightest right? I mean that's what equity means ...stop hiring based on abilities and skills and do it based on equity...meaning count people based on skin color and if you hire a dummy it's ok cause everyone's the same.
