CVX is not understaff they just run us lean. After the last function transformation in 2020 many of us took on a lot more work after a lot employees were either laid off, EOI’d or retired. They use to call the layoff roms but the one in 2020 hit us hard and was called a functional transformation. We really never bounced back after that. CVX is an unstable environment when it comes to job security because there is always a lot of change. BUT we have some good employees that will welcome you.

CVX was not understaffed in preparation for an acquisition. It is how they run the company. Way too lean and everyone is tired and overworked.
Someone mentioned volunteering for severance packages? You’re dreaming. That would never happen.

My friends at CVX tell me if you are GOM or NMB you are a dead man walking. If you are an offshore person learning Bakken, you will be walken. They will breakup the epic failed merger of D&C right after NMB is sold, which is rumored to happen asap. Ole JBH and the street has no faith in Michael taking over so it’s every man for himself. Godspeed

Why would the CEO leave with a bust after a lifetime of placing employees first?

It is surprising that employees are getting severances below the Pioneer and Anadarko folks. We hope JBH realizes the commitment of staff over decades and fixes their packages.

Go check out the chevron boards. They’re understaffed and overworked. Seems like they could have been doing that on purpose knowing they’d be scooping us up in the near future. It also seems like they’re in a pretty bad state fiscally and morale wise. This won’t be pleasant.

@7wye+1peZq8m what do you mean? Guyana is operated by Exxon and Chevron doesn't need our staff. They have a huge gulf of Mexico group. Only Malaysia and the bakken seem like they would be needed?

Given the lack of overlap in some operations, I’d imagine some will be offered a job rather than severance, and not accepting may make you ineligible for the package. But in the last two CVX acquisitions there were provisions that made you eligible for severance if your base and target bonus pay reduces during the 24 months after the deal closes.

Will all employees have the option to volunteer for a severance package?

Don't expect much. The layoff packages weren't that generous.
