Thread regarding Shopify layoffs

650 Gone - Flexport is laying off around 20% of its staff.

Flexport is laying off around 20% of its staff. That's about 650 employees who are losing their jobs. Flexport says they grew too fast during the pandemic and are now "rightsizing" to cut costs. But employees say it's chaos there, with constant reorgs and leadership changes. Morale is supposedly really low, especially after Flexport acquired Deliverr from Shopify earlier this year. People from that acquisition feel betrayed since they were promised job security. Now Flexport is dumping a bunch of them. Seems like the company isn't being straight with its workers. They're framing it as "rightsizing" but employees say it's just mismanagement. Either way, it su-ks for those 650 people who got laid off. Startup life can be rough when funding dries up.
