The new people may have had success at their old companies but it's important to understand this business and sadly the replacements lack that in depth knowledge of the company which results in bad decisions and a halt of productivity while waiting for the new hires to get up to speed. I'm yet to see any replacement do better than an employee that was laid off.
It probably costs them MORE to lay ppl off. They end up having to hire other ppl at higher rates later on to replace the cheaper loyal employees they laid off.
Hah - retraining. Layoffs are cheaper and require zero critical or creative or long term thinking.
