Will there be any Pearson layoffs? Any chatter, news or rumors?

It's hard to really feel sorry for anyone getting laid off at Pearson at this point. I left over a decade ago. Either your head is in the sand or you didn't do your research when you took the job. Don't get me wrong, it su-ks and I'm sorry, but after years of cuts and layoffs, you can't really be that shocked.
The silent changing of the severance policy was the final nail in the coffin. This is a company that cares not a single ounce for its employees. The pay is far below market. Trash company. 10/10 do not recommend.
Shocked and disappointed and how Pearson quietly and deliberately changed severance policy 6 months ago in order to cheap out on many people who've spent the bulk of their work life adapting and adjusting to every single re-org over the last 25+ years.
Apply for posted jobs. But ask yourself if you want to work for a company that values your contributions so little and is pretty transparent about it.
The entire Account Services team was gutted. Half of the AIMs were let go, the SPM team was let go, and the ISes were let go. We were told there would be 31 new positions we could reapply for.
@qzrk+1qkmbYI1 Yes I’m glad everyone had a ball. That irresponsible and unaccountable culture set by MS and RB is why Pearson is cutting and slashing today.
Anyone have any idea what’s up with the implementation & delivery org? Is it safe to assume they’re cutting a bunch of people?
Reorg today across Implementation/Delivery/Services. Pumped!
I mean who are the most successful sales people for Pearson over the last 10 plus years and where are they now? Are they really still there?
If you worked at Pearson for a long time, you would recognize that the culture, passion and quality are vastly different in 2024. People anonymously complain about MS, RB, etc... but THAT was a fun company to be a part of back in the day. It was wild. And you could make money. You were moving the needle for students and faculty.
It was simple compared to the morass of the present where management needs to sell employees on our mission. And there was freedom of movement, an entrepreneurial spirit, and a sense of creativity in your role. It was fun. Sometimes too much fun perhaps. Now. No. Hate all you want, but I'm not wrong.
Not such a great company in the past. It was run by arrogant narcissists in the mid-90s through the early part of the 2000s.
Confirmed Pearson had layoffs as of today, not sure how many. :( Ridiculous how much they tanked this once-great company.
Higher Ed Sales is coming in May!! Get your resumes up to date.
Cutting domestic customer service roles and outsourcing more to the Philippines is so Pearson. Customers call me and say they can hear crying babies and chickens cackling in the background. My understanding is that many of these "reps" work from home. Smfh.
Higher Ed Marketing
Preface: I am having trouble quoting posts
Post: Marketing was smoked in this round. More to come is the word on the streets. Sales possibly? Not good. A lot of really good people were let go.
Is this marketing in PVS or a different division?
I hate how in the dark we are about most of this stuff.

12 WEEKS???? WTF?
Layoffs across the board; across functions and roles. Severance packages seem to be maxed at 6 months with special circumstances, but mostly 12 weeks.
These are corporate layoffs only. Some in curriculum and some in tech. None at the actual schools.
It’s happening now!
Are these teaching, admin, or other types of jobs?
Virtual schools laid off some people other than just the jobs that are being restructured. I know of about 10 people who didn't have those roles but are being let go as well.
Person Virtual Schools just gave notice that roughly 30 jobs will be lost due to restructuring. These 30 will be restructured into 8 blended roles.
Sorry to hear that. Which division?
Our division of Pearson had 25% reduction of staff this week.
Part of the strategic plan is to move more into corporate training and certification. They will probably be making cuts to higher ed to fund that initiative. Before those cuts I’m sure the sales force will have additional cuts with a couple of rounds of musical chairs. My guess we will start seeing PIPS this spring and Tom will lose his sh-t and and get rid of a couple VPs
New CEO and new CRO. My guess is they will want to make their mark with reorganization efforts but what those are and if it actually means cuts? Way too early to tell
New CEO always means headcount cuts. AB didn’t want to leave on a sour note.
I’m sure the NSM is a barn burner this year. Do the self absorbed narcissists still do the follies to laugh at each others unfunny jokes?
You can check your local WARN act to see. Always a good way to see what lies ahead, specifically about layoffs. Going into orbit, however, wouldn't be reflected.
What do you mean by 20% of sales force? The sales staff?
Grasp your ankles firmly and prepare to be launched into orbit.
I heard 20% of sales force
Yes to all of your questions.
