If the layoffs were in the USA, be clear: Severance is not required in the USA unless you have a specific contract with the employer that outlines the terms and conditions of severance, if any. Some people may get severance even without a contract, but it is not required.

All states in the USA, except Montana, have "at-will" employment, meaning you can be fired for no reason and with no notice. There are some exceptions regarding "protected classes" and a few other situations, but for the most part, a job in an American company has no protections from being fired.

I was laid off after 13 years of working with epam. it was told there are no projects according to my skillset. No severance package.

Epam had laid off 7000 people (see their annual reports numbers 2022- and 2023 headcount’s). Much more is coming overheard from senior HR person

I can second that. EPAM US (not sure about the rest of the world) is definitely corrupt, unethical, and one of the most toxic work environment. They need to be exposed and investigated.

Beware Epam lays off people a mass but one by one so that they do not need to pay severance. This practice allows them to save which is not legal. Local governments must investigate them
