Thread regarding Saudi Aramco layoffs

Low offer from Aramco

I am from an EU country and offered $5000 monthly base salary, plus 60% for a role in project management. It is for a 13 role. This is far away from my expectations. I have read in this site about negotiating, is getting $10000 an option?

Based on that logic, it’s a race to the bottom. Aramco will redouble their efforts in hiring expats from DRC, Swaziland, Yemen, Somalia, Haiti or those from low pay EU jurisdictions… those that that are unemployed, in desperate circumstances etc will be prime targets! Based on the latest arrivals it seems to be going that way. This is a guaranteed recipe to never attract the best and brightest to Aramco, maybe that’s what management want.

Aramco's ballroom days are over. Best to avoid but use this website a comprehensive resource for potentially working for the company.

Asking this forum will not help you much. Old timers, like me, will say you were low balled, coz we were there during the time of plenty. Now, Managers push for Saudization and hiring expats on the cheap. Negotiate then see if the final offer works for you and your family. If you are desperate, then go but be ready to face the rigours of working and living there. If you have a decent job already and the offer is not that far off, then save your sanity. GL!

Bulgaria is in the EU. Poland is the EU. Yes an excellent salary if that's where you're coming from. Americans were offered twice that 15 years ago. Your current salary is the problem not the low ball offer.

Fact...make no mistake, they will absolutely pay an expat as little as they can get away with. And it is based on your 'current' non- Aramco paystub.

What exactly us the "role" they are hiring you for?

GC13 is only a grade code for seniority and pay purposes' not a job functions. When I was there, GC13 guys were mainly the field supervisors and project bean counters. And as someone said, they were the first to be surplused when times became hard.

Your offer is based on your current salary + some differential. How does your offer compare with your current salary? They will sc--w you up even more if you are currently unemployed.

They are searching for the minima. Arabs are very shrewd traders. Check your history.

Rediculous low offer for GC 13. Tell them what you need. Also consider the cost of living and the unhealthy environment you and your family will be exposed to.

“ As a GC 13 expat, it sounds about right. Also depends on passport and race”

You can always tell when Aramco management has joined the chat, twisted lies and racism wrapped up into one statement.

Bunch of cretins.

$5k for Grade 13? That is low!
2014 grade 13 was in the $8-$10k band.

It is in the low side certainly, go for the 10k however know they can take back the offer. 5k is way low for any saving or fun in Bahrain (Mental health trips on weekends)

It depends on your job function in PM.

As a GC 13 expat, it sounds about right. Also depends on passport and race.
