I received an offer from Pearson to be on the marketing team. I've read that there were a lot of layoffs earlier this year. Are there more to come? Should I be worried as a new-hire?

Not great Dude.
If you need the job, take it but the company has had a lot of layoffs recently (last 5 years) so if it is last in - first out, think twice about accepting the role.
…. Oh yeah, and the business is dying
Since you found this site, I’m assuming you’ve done your homework and as such you are going into this with eyes wide open. If your goal is to gain some relaxant experience, and lack of long term job security is a risk worth taking, then maybe take the job. If however you are looking for a place to grow in your career and thrive in a supportive culture focused on improving lives of the world through delivering meaningful educational solutions while keep looking my friend. then solutions
DONT DO THAT, everybody is miserable, worst job of my life
Do not accept
Run, don't just walk, away from Pearson. It's an absolutely horrible and unrewarding place to spend your working days.
Unfortunately, Pearson has had two rounds of layoffs in the last six months or so (early 2024). Pearson also has a new CEO so we're waiting to see what directions things take. Honestly, I would suggest that if you do accept the position that you continue to network and look for another position. Additionally, if your position is with Certiport, you're a lot less likely to be promoted or advance in your career if you're not Mormon.
Which marketing team?
