How is the new Headquarters working out?
Why does the IT department not have any office space in Cranberry? Looks like that will be 100% offshore?

Giant Eagle doesn't wish to get into the club game for "bulk purchasers". Manufacturers don't sell the same products to Giant Eagles, Wegmans etc as they do to the club stores.
Giant Eagle will never and should never try and compete with Aldi's for price. Aldi shoppers don't care about labels, but Giant Eagle shoppers do.
Giant Eagle's bigger concerns are the Meijers of the workd trying to expand into their markets, not fighting Walmart, Target, Kroger and Aldi's. Those are battles they can never win and they know it.
I wouldn’t say the entire retail industry has gone to “sh-t”. Giant Eagles problem is over the last 10 to 12 years the prior leadership got greedy and assumed customers wouldn’t mind paying the higher prices. Unfortunately for Giant Eagle competitors moved into the area and offered lower prices. Parking lots at Aldi, Target, Walmart, Costco and Sam’s Club are always full
Obviously it gets sold eventually. The retail industry has gone to sh-t. Look, Rite is going bankrupt, Albertsons sold, Walgreens is for sale. None of the regional chains will be around in 5-10 years. Be a giant like Kroger, Ahold/del haize etc or get out. Sad to say...giant eagle doesn't stand a chance.

I remember the days when you would have to drive around to find a spot to park at Giant Eagle. Now premier parking is always available right up front
They have a plan next FY for prices?? They better do something know. Most Giant Eagle’s don’t even look like they are open. The parking lots are deserted.

Cube farms are old and outdated and provide no privacy....but the "new" open floor plans provide privacy? People on floor 2 and 4 are crying daily for the cube farm of floor 3. Just an fyi.
And the other person said it correct. The offshore model of the regime that BA pushed out is a fail. As jobs open up, it's not "why not offshore", but "where do you want". But the truth is not as juicy on this board.
Pricing still su-ks...but they have plans for next FY. Lets see if they make a difference.
For a new building, it’s certainly not a modern office space. Cube farms are old and outdated. There is no privacy and you can hear everything going on in the background.
Doesn’t really surprise me though, GE loves falling back to old, outdated ways to operate.
I saw the story on the news. Place looks nice from the outside..did I see they're all sitting shoulder to shoulder at tables? What a terrible setup.
IT was designated fully remote, along with many other people/departments. There is plenty of room for IT to visit, but it’s not required. If they wanted to offshore all of IT they could have done that years ago. It’s been pretty stable. I haven’t noticed more or less jobs going offshore. I honestly don’t think they love the offshore model.
Yea it is safe to say Giant Eagle is on a downward spiral. Every Giant Eagle I drive by the parking lot is always empty.

Well, it's been 1 day so you may need to wait a little longer to get your negative feedback but IT has plenty of room at the new headquarters and this HQ is so much nicer that RIDC.
