Thread regarding Comcast layoffs

Comcast Director here

Sorry to hear all the sad stories. If you are wondering if you are next. The answer is yes if any of the following apply.

  1. All frontline positions. Contractor's cost 1/4 of your total comp package.
  1. If your position here at Comcast. Falls in a category that is a non-revenue generating. Small sales don't count. Basically anything with "care" in the title.
  1. Remote employees that are revenue generating, but don't exceed 125% of their sales quota.
  1. IT/Support personnel that work tickets. Outsourcing is way cheaper.
  1. Hourly employees in general. If you are being paid by the hour. Ask yourself. Can my job be done by a contractor, even poorly. Then likely yes.
  1. Do you manage or supervise any of the above.

Good luck to you all. Remember its just a job. No matter how much your direct manager says you are great. Only a director or above knows who's next.

I'm so glad I'm out.
It was a great place 2005-2015.
Now its just another gutted American success story.
Brian, your father would be ashamed of you and your greedy leaders.
I remember seeing the pride he had in his company. It was obvious...
What do you have Brian?

Lay offs @ Comcast / NBC Universal will continue. They are busy filling jobs with "Global" employees in Manila and India. Watching all the job postings and my LinkedIn feed, the writing is on the wall. Waiting to get the Teams invite from HR is no way to live.

It has begun. Frontline leaders are being put on Disciplinary plans for sales goals, which are unattainable.

Pretty gross environment. This house of cards is falling. With such a disconnect in place, no real training plan, and development tossed long ago, I give it two months before they don't have the leaders to step up and fill the holes.

Highly unlikely that a current Comcast Director would share this info. It would be a career ender and most don't care enough to inform anyone that they feel is "beneath" them of anything. Most employees over 55 are gone from the company, regardless of how much experience they had, how long they had been there and performance. Older employees were targeted over the last 18 months. As for eliminating Care, not going to happen. More divisional/national restructuring may lead to layoffs. You'll also never see Comcast mentioned on most sites that track layoffs, such as LinkedIn. Why? Because they likely own a piece of LinkedIn and don't want Wall Street to know about layoffs. Best advice: Don't worry too much. You cannot change the situation, only how you react to it. The people who make lay-off decisions don't know you, nor do they have a clear view of your role and what you do. They are only looking at $$$. It's always a good idea to get your resume in good shape and look at postings for comparable positions elsewhere to get a sense of what is required. Gain knowledge while still at Comcast, take advantage of free online courses to build your skill set and add to your resume. Remember, you were looking for a job when you found the one you are in and you can do it again!

It is a rough time. Why aren't we happy? We are the only few countries outsourcing ourselves out of a job. Then we write news to brainwash ourselves needing more H1b visa to create jobs.

Is there a timeline for this? By year’s end? Also, is this divisional or nationwide? 16 year employee here. Curious…
