Davison Road Processing Center Laying off Temp Workers

GM laying off temporary employees at Davison Road Processing Center

BURTON, Mich. (WJRT) - More than 145 temporary workers will soon be out of a job at GM's Davison Road Processing Center.

Temporary workers say they will be off of the payroll this Friday, after they found out the development last week, on social media.

"A co-worker actually came up and told me, she saw it on Facebook," recalled a temporary employee who told ABC 12, "At first, I didn't believe her, so I went up to my union rep. and asked her, 'is this correct?' She said, 'yes, that is correct,'" she said.

It comes after a message was sent out from the acting Local 651 Chairman Mike King, saying in part, "management is dragging their feet to notify affected members... Friday May 17th ALL temporary Brothers and Sisters will no longer be employed here at Davison Road."

The woman, who chose not to be identified, was a part of the three groups hired in March; She said it was pure shock when she found out.

"My heart sank a little bit, because I was like, this was a whole big career opportunity for me, that is seemingly going down the drain," she explained.
