Thread regarding Bose layoffs

Coincidence?

Does anyone find it weird that the CEO of Bose is moving its HQ to Atlanta where she happens to sit on the Board of Directors for another company headquartered in Atlanta? Or am I being paranoid?

The corporate center is very dusty and dirty I am surprised anyone would praise that place. It is just about as useless and falling apart as Raza.

Some employees still tout the mountain as if it’s anything other than a memorial for the shell of a company Bose is. If Bose could find a buyer for the mountain they would absolutely sell , make employees remote as an “investment in our people”. Then lay them off for cheaper talent in Atlanta. The mountain died with Dr. Bose and the current c suite wants to put the last pile of dirt on the grave.

One thing is certain - I'll never buy another Bose product because they are simply 'me-too' now ... cutting costs in everything...but still charging ridiculous prices for chinese made sh-t. Go woke, go broke!

Not selling The Mountain as of yet, but that wouldn't surprise me if they did. With that being said, I'll know more after the GLT meeting tomorrow.

The push to atlanta was solely to sya they didn't outsource.. once they couldn't "fill" those spots they would start looking overseas

She's trying to push out legacy employees, and everything else is gravy

I'd guess it's a combination of:

  1. She truly believes there is better talent for Bose in Atlanta, at the price they are willing to pay. There's a lot of competition for employees in the greater Boston area, and they are very cost conscious right now. Atlanta should be cheaper to hire people. Other companies have done a similar thing in recent years (e.g., Microsoft expanded there).
  1. The moves she's made so far (spinning off Pro, shuttering Health, partnering with other brands to push Consumer) haven't paid off. Pro brought in some much-needed cash, Health cut outgoing cash flow, but neither of those things is going to fix the deeper issues, and are short-term band-aids. This would appear to be another cost-cutting move. Perhaps sales continue to disappoint, and margins continue to dwindle, so you've got to cut costs to match.
  1. As CEO, she must do something big. The product offerings aren't all that exciting. The competition is fierce for where Bose needs high margins, product offerings aren't compelling enough to deliver those margins, and the Bose brand is not as reliable as it once was for sales. She can't tell the Board that she's out of ideas, she has to act. This is a justifiable act. Certainly the fine folks from McKinsey / Accenture will be on hand to justify & help.
