UC Davis Health cuts jobs, cites increase in expenses as reason

UC Davis Health has eliminated 150 positions across its organization, the health system confirmed on Thursday.

In a statement to KCRA 3, a spokesperson for the health system said accelerated growth in the Sacramento region prompted a larger increase in expenses. The statement called the layoffs one of the steps, "to align expenditures and revenues before the start of our next fiscal year on July 1."

As well as Organizational Excellence and HR. For the most part they laid off administrative staff despite the organization operating at an admin per employee ratio that was quite low. Their statements also ring as dishonest; they are expanding and hiring 80 clinical positions (as well as building a plethora of new facilities), yet they say that expenditures have to meet income......that argument doesn't hold.
