Am I the only one who not aware that Seagate is practicing 4 working days?
Especially from staff engineer level and above are not working on Friday, don’t even bother to come in. Is it apply to all employees?

Why wouldn't Friday be a shorter day when you have morning meetings around the world before you even eat your breakfast and then more after dinner.
Was being pushed to make a changed deadline. Worked all weekend to accommodate. Had a staff meeting first thing on Monday. It was a typical day until a few hours later and most of us were terminated via RIF.
I don’t have any objection of them work from home. However, I just felt annoyed of some of the colleague openly saying, they were picking up their kids from school (when we were in the issue and that person was work from home).
Some of the managers joined the meeting from home at 10:30 am but their voice still alseep. They are not being professional and taking advantage, HR not aware of it at all?
"Also, most people in the US work in the evenings Monday-Thursday so everything balances out. "
THIS!!!
I'm increasingly annoyed that I am not only asked to do more work stateside to make up for skill lost in all the RIFS, but lately I've been su-ked into attending more evening meetings with STTH to assist the people there who are inexperienced replacements for skill that left involuntarily and voluntarily.
Note to HR: I make a point of coming in later the next day to make up for the balance of the meeting I attended the night before. You can take that "do more with less" and put it where the sun don't shine.
if we are being paid for 80% of a week of work..
It's true that most people aren't working all of Friday. I still put in good work on Fridays but I'll look on teams and see most people are away.
To be honest, if your work for the week is done, who cares? Also, most people in the US work in the evenings Monday-Thursday so everything balances out.
No wonder the company is in shambles
Does every Friday is off? Yes it's a new policy, confirmed with HR. I wish I knew about this sooner
This corrupt practice goes back years. I’ve had 2 different bosses that were never in the office on Fridays, and if the weather was nice not in the office on Thursdays either - way way before Covid.
I had a VP whose admin would open his office door when she arrived in the office to make it look like he was around. He was hardly ever there.
sure, why not
I come into the office every Friday. It's definitely more quiet. I think lots of people WFH Friday to get an early start to the weekend. It's true. What I do notice is that significant numbers of higher management are not on site MOST days and not just Friday. Take a random walk around and check director and VP offices. 90% are dark most days. I'm pretty sure all these people are not registered as remote or hybrid workers so they are all expected to be on site every day but are not. So, what kind of example do you think that sets for everyone working under them? Hope it makes sense now.
