I’m thinking about applying with BH

Any advice, useful info? How’s the culture? Is ageism also pronounced like with other companies in the industry? Was with Exxon before, and I don’t want to have the repeat of the toxicity I experienced there. Was PIPed in the end just as a cover to force me to leave bcs experience and dedication apparently became a burden these days. BH using the same tricks?

BH is a terrible place to work. Poor management, no strategy, EBs and above all shooting from the hip everyday. Who ever shouts loudest gets promoted quickest. I’d give them a miss. I joined Wood a few years back after being at BH, breath of fresh air. That Lorenzo chap is a clown with a bunch of circus acts below him creating a toxic culture and environment.

Sounds like you are a more…err…Mature Worker, so my advise is to leave well alone, especially if you are looking to play the long game, because BH aren’t Long Gamers.
BH want something for nothing, so would rather take on new Grad’s who are eager to please, at a fraction of the price.
Anyway, those Old Timers who smelt the coffee took the King’s Shilling long ago, smart as they were, & those who didn't are on shaky ground.
However, New Grad’s looking to get a foot in the door, & looking to play the short game for experience before moving on, are more than welcome – BH has a place in their hearts for you.

In fact, I don’t claim Baker is the best employer. I suggest using it only as a stepping stone to move forward. Who else is going to stay here forever, except a few conspiracy theorists like you? Don't do it. They have mass indiscriminate layoffs every 12-18 months. They prioritize laying off experience and keeping DEI hires who contribute nothing but command lower salaries. Morale is essentially 0, they stack the workload on remaining employees to pick up the slack. After the last round of layoffs a lot more people decided they were done and either retired early or went elsewhere.

Maria has destroyed the company culture, it's probably getting reshaped for a buyout.

Terrible place to work, started going downhill about 10 years ago. Moral is non-existent, “do more with less and less“ is the motto. Putting new junk out that doesn’t work, and repairing 20 year old junk with parts scrapped together. Current layoffs are aimed at eliminating all the productive experienced staff to replace with outsourced cheap Indians.

Try to got for the Big blue- its cyclic and what I heard , true or not, they are gearing up for another buy out and top bosses to make loads of bonus , so avoid if you can - if you enter into Houston office, try learning spanish - if you dont , or put a latin name that would go long way oe become an italian - harsh reality but truth
