So I turned on my phone this morning to begin my day and was greeted with some sort of automated message which stated “you will be receiving an invite today for a mandatory meeting on 7-8 where your employment status will be discussed effective immediately on 7-8, this is a mandatory meeting”. Is this REALLY how they’re going to be terminating people, with some virtual meetings?

@OP I'm sorry to hear that they sc--wed you out of 14 yrs of severance. I mean that's like 30-35k + AFTER taxes depending on what you make. That's a lot of money to just walk away from, I'd be livid about something like that. It seems like a big change for the Board to make so recently and then slipping it in under everyone's noses like that and not mentioning anything to anyone about it. If that be true, I truly feel that Allstate should be disbanded and barred from doing business in this country, I mean there are some shady things that are questionable about this company but something like that is beyond the pale.
@5xvd Well TPTB must have made the decision to do so because it changed as of 7/1.
And not a hard change for them. More money in their fat cat pockets.
The severance plan is a welfare plan under ERISA, governed by ERISA requirements. If any of yall looked at the doc and read it, you’d know that.
Log in to good life website. From the menu, select Plan information. Then health and welfare spds, Other health and welfare, and then the severance plan doc.
Changes require a resolution from the board of directors. Not saying it can’t be changed, but it takes more than one manager or an anonymous person here saying it’s been changed.
From what I was told today severance was changed effective 7/1/2024 and don't be surprised if no severance starting in 2025.
This is exactly the reason I laugh when I hear all the claim losers brag about doing nothing or the bare minimum waiting for a large severance package. Be careful what you wish for.
That is where I said I am looking and cannot find anything. Which is why I asked for where it is from the people who said it is there.
Wow! So sorry to hear. I thought they were hiring estimators? Is it a particular state? Was your rating negative? What a shame..
OP here, the severance package was changed on 7-1 is what I was told when I questioned the 6 weeks I was receiving. I was also told that companies are not required by ANY law to provide ANY severance so that pretty much ended my argument to them.
"If the company website has the severance package as 2 wks for every yr to max out at 52 wks then that is what it is." oh, sure - if it's on the internet, it must be true.
There is no legal obligation to pay any severance at all.
@5cik+1tmLexKX
as another poster wrote
"Severance plan summary as of 1/1/24 is on the good life website rn."
I tried finding severance package details on the benefits site and could not find anything. Would those who know mind sharing where to look? I’d like to see for myself LOL.
@4wqe+1tmLexKX- I agree and where is the OP now that he was called out about his BS post. If the company website has the severance package as 2 wks for every yr to max out at 52 wks then that is what it is. It's not "up to management" and whatever they want to do as one poster claimed hahaha, that is a joke. This place is a dumpster fire and there is already enough to be upset about the way things are run here but to just make this kind of cr*p up is silly.
You guys are so ridiculous that you’ll believe anonymous and random posts here versus official SPDs outlining severance details posted on the corporate benefits site.
So ok, try this: I was laid off today, no notice, by carrier pigeon, instructed to return my laptop last week, and I received a years severance for my 1 year of service. So easy to make sh-t up or make vague references to a FedEx package that “mentioned” this or that but no actual quote.
Is there any proof of this reduction in severance? I checked today and been told nothing has changed with the severance plan. Any proof of this or just gaslighting going on here?
And no, one person claiming to be getting 6 weeks of severance pay for 14 years is NOT proof.
For a few years I've seen many people post on this board that they're "just hanging on for the severance." I cant say ive had a lot of respect for that strategy. Some people saw that dream evaporate when they (but not their seniority or severance package) were "lifted and shifted" to a vendor. Now the people holding out for 52 weeks severance will get 6 (~11.5%).
What will it take to make you proactive about your career?
How convenient it’s is that the severance policy changed on 7/1. As for the CCO, we got an email yesterday bragging about how they’re hiring!
What happened ? Is cco affected ?
Severance changed as of 7/1/2024.
Severance is whatever company leadership wants it to be. Whatever is on the good life website means nothing. It does not bind the company to anything.
Severance is still 2 weeks per year with a max of 52 weeks. Severance plan summary as of 1/1/24 is on the good life website rn.
The severance thing was about the only perk they had left and now that’s gone. This place is being managed like GEICO. The employee is the enemy and su-king away the profits for bonuses. It’s sad how few people are actually still engaged in their job there.
Sad times if Allstate really did reduce severance packages down to 1 week per year of service with a max of 6 weeks company wide. Doesn't surprise me if they did though. Would make quitting and self resignation more appealing at this point and they wouldn't even have to pay that 6 weeks max. This company just keeps getting better and better.
That is tough. The policy used to be two weeks for every year with the company up to a max of 52 weeks. I am not sure if it changed for everyone? Who can find a comparable job in six weeks?
If this RIF is to push those ridiculous AI generated sheets then they’re in for a huge surprise.
Sorry to hear it, and the cr-ppy terms you were offered. Be careful about anything they ask you to sign in order to get that "generous" severance offer.
Any idea of the scope (how many laid off / was it just your department)?
Is the thought process for the RIF to “replace” you with the app? Because that’s going to be a hilarious failure
OP here, terminated due to an RIF at the auto appraisal position, last day of work is this Friday…… 6 weeks severance for 14 years at Allstate, total joke in my opinion!
There used to be a published “Allstate Severance Plan SPD24” document. Unable to locate any severance information now, after transitioning to Workday.
Any update?
We did hear the severance package for Allstate was being changed and this 1 week per year for max of 6 weeks is in line with what we have been hearing starting in third quarter 2024.
Check your CSL's online calendar for a pattern of online meetings with employees and their CSL, as well as a third party. If your meeting involves your CSL and someone else, prepare for the worst. Check the calendar for other CSL's in your department also.
Maximum of 6 weeks?!
Have seen this before, although it's been several years ago. When there were multiple layoffs in one location, employees were sent a notice on Friday for a meeting on Monday. One meeting was for those who being let go, and a subsequent meeting was for those who were being retained - and congrats - with more job duties.
The FedEx I received mentioned any employees who end up being separated from the company will receive one week of severance per year of service with a maximum of 6 weeks? Sounds pretty light since I’ve been with Allstate for 14 years and I end up with 6 weeks severance if the separate from me tomorrow.
Not normal but somehow makes sense for Allstate. Seems like the only questions left are: what severance is being offered and how many others are impacted?
OP here. So I got a FedEx on Saturday with information about how to return company equipment and what happens with the company car but it said this “only applies” to employees who are separating from the company which I know nothing about other than I have a meeting scheduled for 7-8. Is this like normal?
Will the CCO be affected with layoffs?
Sorry to hear OP, typical claim employee not returning a phone call
OP here, the message was 100% legit, the email came from my CSL who did not respond to me on 7-5 when I called him 3 times and emailed him twice and he was also working on 7-5 so he obviously didn’t respond for a reason which makes me think I’ll be told on 7-8 that I’m being terminated.
Voicemail or text? You sure the message was legit? Tthere was a phishing scam asking Allstaters to preregister for lay off meetings couple months ago. It was 100% scam website.
