I left Oracle some time ago and have since worked at a few companies. Large, small, public and private. What I noticed was that there are just bad people out there. I know it sounds corny, but there are just cr-ppy angry nasty people out there. While Oracle is no different, the level of behavior at the companies I worked at, the arrogance, the lack of any type of humanity, it made me actually long for Oracle. And I am someone who does comment on Oracle mgmt fairly often here. I am not talking about the mgmt folks of Oracle, I believe they are still pretty much the worst, but I have encountered people who were just as bad or worse and with a lot less reasoning. For one guy, a day of reckoning came to him and he was let go by one of the companies I worked at. Another company was a mess of a start up and lying to make ends meet while promoting a culture of worker bee mistreatment. What I noticed, time and time again, that it really wasn't the company, but groups of people or just angry human beings who just pushed this type of behavior. It sometimes made me angry, sometimes I laughed. What I really came to realize was that there are TONS of people that have real mental health issues who take them out on people at work. At most of the companies including Oracle, people didn't know I had a side gig and really, day jobs were just something to make it appear like I am like everyone else....so I often laughed at so many people who acted like the earth would crater if they didn't get what they wanted. Granted Oracle is huge, but over the time I was there, I didn't feel as bad as I did at the other places. Just my two cents.

No one deserves to be treated like cr-p. It blows my mind that there is that individual that has done more harm to individuals and the Corp than any other person. When a person is dishonest to get promoted to a platform of responsibility, they don’t suddenly clean up their act. In fact, they get worse as time goes by. He is going to humiliated when his infractions are made public. Many already know. It shouldn’t be much longer before he is no longer in the position to harm others. How he pulled it off is a bad joke. Not exactly sophisticated but then, neither is he. . One RICO charge is 20 years and the statute of limitations is treated differently. He most likely will get 2 and maybe 3, I’m not sure. There is a list of other things after promotion.
Putting the Corp is jeopardy is serious. Why anyone would violate that particular federal agency is really stupid. He has victims but his biggest victim is the Corp. Karma is not going to be kind.
OP here...been a while. I was not a VP. Not in mgmt. I was a worker bee who just tried to do his best and people, mostly mgmt people who didn't care about me as a person or colleague lead me astray. Giving me cr-p projects, cr-p work, suggesting I move on to a new team. My career at Oracle, while there were a few bright spots, turned out to be single biggest waste of my time. I think I remained hopeful people weren't as bad as they out to be. I was a member of a GBU. I think it's still up and running. I realized that when you have people who turn into mgmt who have never really been in the trenches...they have ZERO respect for the jobs many were doing. Most times our mgmt folks were just laughed at. They couldn't even get the terminology right. I dont miss that group one bit cause the work they've done or doing.....couldve been replaced by people with better skills and better products. For the most part, a lot will retire with Oracle I imagine. There is zero chance another "tech" company would ever hire them. That and they're just terrible human beings. For me, I want that time I wasted back, but I will never get it back. For them, well, karma get them.
Time for VP to move on?
Good day ma, gets a bit repetitive doesn't it?
Maybe it's time for the harassment to be over. Time to move on, right?
VP smorgasbord!
“ I'm not into side hustles “
Who says that you are the VP? There are so many!
I'm not into side hustles, though some have thought so. I did not post here. It seems someone has much bigger problems than me.
OP. Sports analogy is perfect.
Sports teaches self discipline
(They have none)
We have to learn and follow the rules of our Sport. (They make their own rules and don’t know the value of doing things right)
Teamwork. We train, practice give our best & encourage others and they in turn do the same). These people work against each other. They are evil, They try to degrade, deflect, divide, they can’t stand not to be in control.
In sports if you cheat. you are penalized
If you continue to cheat, you get thrown out of the game.
Fellow teammates, spectators. coaches etc do not like cheaters. Word travels fast. Nobody else will pickup a cheater as a team mate. ( this is where some might be —unemployable. Once job is lost, career is over. Justice will prevail
So what do we do? We can’t let a perpetrator continue to hurt more people. Standing up for what is right is difficult. Sometimes we can’t, We have to keep in mind there are others out there that have been harmed by the same person. You never know what is in the works. Also someone be talking to someone that is an authority.
Sorry you went through so much. The experience could be followed
Team building is a postive
There are always concerned 3rd parties.
We all need help to understand
Logistics is challenging now and questionable. Sports helps clear mind
AI has great difficulty with numbers.
I hope someone sues the living sh-t out of ORCL.
And no, I won't be taking a break.
You can't use some sneaky tactics to make someone look like cr-p.
The problem is that those with the sneaky tactics are d-mber than sh-t.
And there lies the fundamental problem, intelligent people don't have to be "sneaky", so "sneaky" people are generally just not that bright!
That's why I have nothing to worry about.
600 centimeters is 19 and a half feet!!
ROFLMAO!!
Fake, fake, fake
OP here. Thanks for the compliments. It actually helps with my own mental to just get it out. I just wish so many of us didn't deal with so much at Oracle or at any other companies. All I ever wanted to do was work hard, bring home a check and have some good bennies and be left to enjoy friends and family. I got too close to few people when I was at Oracle and they did me dirty and it took a long time to get over there. I guess I still always ask, why can't you just let me work? Why do you have to sabotage me or hamstring me and try to kick me down? Doing desk gigs for so many years made me miss my old career in logistics as well as playing sports. You can't use some sneaky tactics to make someone look like cr-p. Their work output and achievements on the field speak for themselves. Not shocked at the fact most of the mgmt in the GBU I worked at never had physical jobs, never played or mentioned sports. There are just some really sad and deranged people at Oracle and few other companies. They tend to hang out in mgmt circles. Sad.
Awesome thread. Awesome OP.
Think I know who you might be. Wish we could talk. Have much going on with questions. Admire your ability. knowledge & experience.
Everyone should have a side hustle.
Just in case. Uncertain times are a given
Pretty sure VP that monitors most everything on this site has a side hustle. Don’t know anything about it other than there are many rumors circulating in various circles that it is dangerously illegal. Imagine that? Maybe soon he’ll take a break and someone can file charges so he can no longer harm anyone else.
Many are tired and just want justice.
It would’ve been credited to someone else or my manager would’ve said it was his idea.
Exactly
At many messed up companies the “theft” is basically non criminal. It’s harassment, degradation, humiliation, being a snake, stealing from others, putting people down, not applauding them for their achievements, not acknowledging them… I spent almost 2 decades at oracle. I could’ve invented the second internet and one of two things would’ve happened. It would’ve been credited to someone else or my manager would’ve said it was his idea. I have zero doubt that there are countless oracle managers who know they’re at the level of pond sc-m. The ones I worked for actually less competent than myself and my coworkers. Most were pathetic humans. They know who they are. After oracle they’ll realize they were useless.
True every large Corp is corrupt to some degree. When that corrupt person is obnoxious and boasts on social media - they have no clue who is looking for corruption. Federal agents find alot information on posts to investigate.
A large % of white collar criminals are in prison because someone found out they are corrupt and told on them
because they harmed the wrong person at the wrong time. When they bully, lie, cheat and steal from
employees that they think are better than.,, They have no clue who they know. Some young employees have room mates or relatives that are prosecutors or investigators.
Never know when a federal agent is seated at the next table in restaurant and can overhear a jack**s drinking too
mich and talking too loud.
Some investigators will pay servers to tell
them things they find out from customers
They get promotions and pay raises based on # years sentenced and amount of restitution. An arrogant S-B that they can prove that steals from the Corp
needs to know who his victims know outside of the Corp before they degrade them. You never know.
This is true, what set Oracle apart is it's size. As an organisation increases in size the probability of disfunction increases by some function of the square of the size
P disfunction proportional to org_size^2
TL;DR
