The three lines of defense are useless. Audit Services, 2LOD Compliance and 1LOD business process owners have failed and not doing their job. Audit Services is a joke when they can’t maintain their independence and cave into business. Compliance doesn’t have the expertise and skill sets. and process and control owners do not understand and know how their processes fits in the bigger picture.

How can an institution improve anything if it doesn’t even recognize past mistakes? The “not our fault” mentality is embedded in everyday culture and employees and members are paying the price while EMGs getting their lavish parties, trips and bonuses.
